Students with 80% marks to get free education at Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad

Islamabad:Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will provide free of cost education to all those students who will get 80 per cent and above marks in any programme from Matric to Ph.D level.

This was announced by Professor Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hassan Butt, vice-chancellor of the university while addressing a function of handing over the scholarship amount to the students who got 70 per cent and above marks at the level of Metric and FA from different Educational Board of Punjab.

The said scholarship has been given from ‘Punjab Educational Endowment Fund’, which is an initiative of the Government of Punjab under the leadership of the Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif with initial seed money of Rs2 billion with the objective of providing scholar-

ships and monetary assis-

tance to talented and needy students for pursuing quality education.

This fund has been initiated for 14 districts of Punjab while it is expected that more focus of these scholarships will be towards the fifteen less developed districts, especially from southern Punjab as well as to Azad Kashmir.
