Punjab University (PU) and Waikato University to collaborate in various disciplines


LAHORE (Monday, January 05): Punjab University (PU) and Waikato University, New Zealand will collaborate in the field of Tourism & Hospitality Management and various other areas of mutual interest. In this regard a two-member delegation of Waikato University called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran and visited various departments of PU on Monday.

The member of the delegation included Tim Lockyer and Brett Muir while PU Director External Linkages Prof Dr Najma Najam and College of Earth & Environmental Sciences Principal Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain Baloch and Prof Dr Muhammad Asad Mohsin during the delegation's meeting with the vice-chancellor.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran briefed the delegation about the academic and research activities, departments and programmes being offered to students. He also briefed the delegation about the PU history, services, achievements, distinctions and research work being done in the varsity.
Later the delegation visited various other departments of PU and separately met with Dean Faculty of Science Prof Dr Jamil Anwar Chaudhry, Dean Faculty of Economics & Management Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Ehsan Malik, Dean Faculty of Education Prof Dr Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal, Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Prof Dr Shahida Hasnain and Dean Faculty of Faculty of Arts & Humanities Prof Shaista Sonnu Sirajuddin.

College of Earth & Environmental Sciences Principal Prof Iftikhar Hussain Baloch said that Waikato University 's collaboration with PU in the field of Tourism and Hospitality Management would be very good for the faculty as well as students of the Punjab University .

The Waikato University is also interested for having collaboration with PU in the field of chemistry, business administration, life sciences and some other disciplines and currently both varsities are doing paper work to take a final decision in this regard and sign a Memorandum of Understanding to give the collaboration practical shape.
