KUTS boycotts classes in KU

Karachi :06 September : The Karachi University Teachers Society (KUTS) Thursday called off all the classes and observed a strike against ‘controversial’ amendments made in new Sindh Universities Act 2013.

Rejecting the amendments the teachers said that the status of vice-chancellor of the university has been degraded to the level of a college principal.

It is pertinent to note here that, the amendment bill had been tabled and passed in the Sindh Assembly on August 19 despite protests by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

According to the amendments the control of the universities has been transferred to the chief minister, authorizing him to appoint vice-chancellors, registrars, controllers and other administrative staff. (Local TV).F.P.report.
