UNIVERSITY of Veterinary Workshop on Civic Activities
Lahore:June 27: UNIVERSITY of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore organised a two-day international training workshop on civic engagement activities for the students, faculty members and representatives of NGOs on Wednesday.
Katie Peacock, Amber Cameron and Ross Roholt from University of Minnesota, United States, are the resource persons of the workshop.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday, on the first day, different sessions were held for faculty members on how to plan, carry out and evaluate community services and civic engagement programmes. On the second day, different sessions will be held for students and faculty members on volunteerism and leadership development. The resource persons also held meeting with the Business Incubation Centre staff and representatives of various NGOs and discussed various aspects of civic engagement activities.
Earlier in the morning, the US delegates called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha. The Vice-Chancellor briefed the delegation about the academic, research and extension programmes of the university and its role in the development of livestock sector. He said that many new disciplines/academic courses had been introduced keeping in view the market demands. Prof Pasha also discussed the ongoing projects of the UVAS with national and international organisations and said that output-oriented research projects were being funded that would bring a huge profit for livestock sector. He said the UVAS was also producing vaccines against various cattle and poultry diseases. He also spoke about the development potential of livestock sector and its contribution to Pakistan’s economy.The news.
