University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore to offer Pharm-D classes

Lahore: The Pharmacy Council of Pakistan has allowed the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore to initiate Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) degree classes this year, according to a handout issued by UVAS on Friday.

The permission was granted at a meeting of the Pharmacy Council held in the UVAS's City Campus. Council Vice-President and University of Balochistan Department of Pharmacy Chairman Dr Javed Iqbal, Sindh University Dean of Pharmacy Dr Abdullah Dayo, University of Karachi Assistant Professor Pharmaceutics Dr M Haris Shoaib, Dr Khalid Saeed Bukhari from the World Health Organisation (WHO), Pharmacy Council of Pakistan Secretary Nazeerud Din Ahsan, Punjab Pharmacy Council Secretary Muhammad Shamoon and Dr Ayaz Ali Khan attended the meeting. UVAS Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Muhammad Nawaz and various UVAS deans were also present.

Earlier, the VC gave a presentation to the council on UVAS academic programmes and its planning and the facilities available for initiating the Pharm-D programme. The council also visited the site where Pharm-D classes will be held and inspected the laboratories, classrooms and other facilities for the programme.

A four-day workshop on Project Designing and Management was held at the UVAS from Tuesday - Friday.

The Life Sciences Business Management Department's faculty of the UVAS, in collaboration with the Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department, arranged the workshop for senior livestock professionals.

Upon completion of the workshop, Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Nawaz and Dean Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha awarded certificates to all participants. Daily Times
