PU VC Allegations Aim to Hide his Inefficiency: JI, IJT
Lahore : September 24: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leaders and Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) office bearers on Monday alleged that the Punjab University vice chancellor had linked the arrest of terrorist suspects to the Jamiat to hide his own incompetence.
Addressing a press conference here, JI leaders including Ameer ul Azeem, PU IJT nazim Abdul Muqeet and others said Jamiat’s character was being assassinated. IJT’s past and present was like an open book but the present administration was conspiring against it, they said, vowing to fail the attempt and demanding the removal of the VC.
They also said linking peaceful student organization like Jamiat to al-Qaeda was like sabotaging the peace. Meanwhile a PU spokesman while reacting to the press conference said it was not about the efficiency of administration, it was about the arrest of a suspected terrorist from the room of a Nazim of Islami Jamiat Talaba. In a press statement issued here on Monday, the spokesperson demanded action against the hooligans of IJT as more than 75 FIRs had been lodged by the administration to help the university get rid of rogue elements. The spokesman said that Farooq Hameed was illegally occupying room number 114 of PU Hostel No 3, asking him to explain which department of the Punjab University he was studying at now.
The spokesman said that Farooq Hameed had been a student of a diploma program at the English Department in the past and diploma students were not entitled to hostel accommodation. His diploma course had also expired, he claimed.
He alleged IJT itself was involved in illegal activities and had provided shelter to those elements who were involved in, what he termed, terrorist activities in Pakistan. The spokesman said that the PU had progressed in all the sections under the leadership of its VC, Dr Mujahid Kamran. He said the biggest hurdle in the progress of the university was the hooliganism of IJT.The news.
