Students work on new generation of TV Commercials
Lahore :01 July : New generation television commercials and public service announcements (PSA) prepared by the students of Institute of Communication Studies Punjab University enthralled audience in a creative and mesmerising event at the campus here on Sunday. Ranging from the public awareness messages on various social problems to commercial advertisement of products, as many as 26 students of BS Communication Studies screened up to a minute-long advertisements for evaluation in the ICS conference room.

Public service messages included the need of energy conservation, no to water wastage, no smoking, benefits of wearing seatbelt, while commercial ads were on soft drinks, furniture, fashion clothes and many other products.

The guest evaluators included renowned artist and founder of Rafi Peer Theatre Salman Pirzada, PML-N MPA and fashion designer Hina Pervaiz Butt, PU Director Student Affairs Shahid Gul while the programme was presided over by ICS in-charge Director Dr Noshina Saleem and faculty members Shafia Bhatti, Sana Naveed Khan & Shaista Khawar coordinated the programme.

The event provided the students with an opportunity to express their creative instinct and potential before the audience while coming up with new generation ideas for TV commercials that are not boring for the mass interactive audience of television in this era.

The students covered different topics and products showing a blend of advertisements, public relations and public awareness in an innovative way. Addressing the students, Salman Pirzada said that the work done by the students was very impressive and the messages were well conveyed.

“Being the civilized people we should stick to the truth even if it doesn’t give you business,” he remarked. Fashion designer Hina Pervaiz Butt and PU director student affairs Shahid Gul also appreciated the students for their effort to break the routine monotonous commercials and coming up with appealing stuff for the vast TV audience. ICS In-charge Director Dr Noshina Saleem urged to students to work hard and improve their shortcomings so that they are trained professionals before joining the competitive professional markets after graduating from the institute. In the end the distinguished students were awarded with certificates.Daily Times.
