One Seventy Five Fata Schools Converted into English Medium
Landi Kotal  : September 21 :  The Fata Education Directorate has converted 175 government-run primary and high schools into English medium, while syllabus and books have also been distributed among the students, an official said on Friday.
Hashim Khan Afridi, additional director education Fata, told The News that 116 primary and 59 high schools in Fata have been converted to English medium. He said they have distributed books in maximum schools and list of the other targetted schools was prepared for distribution of the books.
Hashim said a total of 0.586 million Fata students were receiving education in 5613 government-run educational institutions. He said that in the first phase they have converted 59 girls and 116 boys schools while the rest of the schools would also be converted to English medium depending on the security situation and allocation of budget for books.
He said Political Agent Mutahir Zeb had issued Rs0.6 million for the books of 20 primary and six high schools in Khyber Agency, which have started work on the English mediums textbooks in September. “I am hundred percent optimistic that introduction of English medium textbooks would improve the quality of education in Fata,” said Hashim.
However, Asmat, vice-principal of the Government Higher Secondary Schools Jamrud, said the teachers and students would face hardships with the English medium textbooks for some time.The news.
