GCUF Teachers Training Workshop Inaugurated
FAISALABAD: Committed and trained teachers play a pivotal role in sharpening and reshaping students' skills and abilities by giving them knowledge, said GC University Faisalabad (GCUF) VC and Faculty of Science and Technology Dean Prof Dr Naureen Aziz Qureshi at an inaugural session of a five-week young lecturers training workshop arranged by directorate of distance learning.
Adviser Human Resource Sheikh Muhammad Akram, Dr Naeem Mohsin and other spoke on the occasion. The workshop is aimed at improving quality of teaching, learning material and teaching techniques. Prof Dr Naureen Aziz Qureshi said under the workshop 60 hours training to be given to young teachers. She said teachers were the leaders of change who must be skilled with modern methods. She told the audiences that training on change in pedagogical skills, ethics, assessment and evaluation, research practices and psychology will be held under the programme. She called for increasing higher education rate by motivating the youth in a bid to move the country to progress. Sheikh Muhammad Akram said trained manpower and professionalism was the key to development. He stressed the need to expedite efforts on the part of teaching community to produce trained manpower in order to face up to different challenges. He was of the view that Pakistan was blessed with talented people. There is need to explore talent and polish it.
