Roots College Student Council Takes Oath
Islamabad : 21 September : The Roots College International G8 Campus on Friday held the oath taking ceremony
of its Student Council 2013-2014.
The Student Council pledged to uphold the ideals enshrined in the school’s code of conduct. Malaysian High Commissioner Hasrul Sani bin Mujtabar, Mauritius High Commissioner Muhammad Rashad Daurewoo, Lebanese Ambassador Mona al Tannir, Tajik Ambassador Sher Ali Jononov and Palestinian Ambassador Walid Ahmed Abu Ali were the guests of honour on the occasion.
The dignitaries urged the Student Council to fulfil the duty entrusted to it with commitment and sincerity.
Roots International Schools CEO Walid Mushtaq encouraged the newly instituted Student Council and asked it to carry out responsibilities to the best of its ability.
For various posts, such as the head boy, head girl, president sports club, president music club and president student affairs and vice presidents and deputy secretaries, 49 students were nominated. Students were given two days to run their election campaigns.
The elections were won by 27 students through the voting of 400 students of the campus. The polling took place for two hours and ended with the result celebrations. The results were displayed on the website and notice boards of schools.
The Student Council is an elected body of student representatives who become the voice of other students in the school and present their views on various subjects.
Student councils have become an integral part of many schools. They often take charge of organising events in the school and work on several projects throughout the year. This creates an opportunity for the students to work on topics of interest and conduct activities that complement learning.
Being a part of the Student Council will help the students to learn skills and leadership qualities that will help them become future leaders. pr.
