Pakistani Students are talented but need Fair Opportunities
Karachi :July 08: Students in our country are talented but they need fair opportunities, said the director of the Institute of Health Management.
Prof Manzoor A Memon was speaking at a prize and certificate distribution ceremony of ‘All Pakistan Essay Competition: Are We Civilised?’ at the IHM of the Dow University of Health Sciences.
In her welcome address, Ms Nahal apprised the audience about the IHM programmes and facilities available for the institute’s students and faculty members.
Memon welcomed the participants, the chief guest (DUHS Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Umer Farooq) and the judge (Fatima Abdur Rehman), and expressed the importance of the essay writing competition.
He congratulated the winning students and said the DUHS was not only providing medical education but was also involved in enhancing the talent of their students by organising such programmes.
He said the topic of the essay contest was very important and around 300 students across the country enthusiastically took part in the competition.
Farooq said the objective of the competition was to encourage creativity and leadership skills through essay writing.

 

He said the contest brought out the ability to think quickly, write persuasively and present well-connected ideas while presenting those ideas in a compact fashion.

 

Rehman said: “The students of our country are passionate about learning. I am pleased to see that the DUHS, besides providing medical education, is also organising co-curricular activities.”

 

Talking about the topic of the contest, the winner of the competition (Mariam Zahid of Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore), compared the early civilised societies of the world with the present civilisation.

 

The other winners included Komal Ishaq of FFC Grammar School, M Sahib Arshad of General School, Tajwar Fatima of AES School, Areeba Zahir of Mama Parsi School, Ujala Shuja of Sindh Madrasatul Islam College, Sabiqa Hasan of Sir Syed University, Hamza Safiq of FFC Grammar School, Mazia Ahmed Malik of University of Karachi and Amna Shafi of KMA Girls Degree College.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of students, parents and dignitaries. Program Director Prof Muhammad Siddiqui was also present on the occasion.The news.
