World Literacy Day Tomorrow
Lahore :September 07: WITH around 60 million people aged above 10 years as illiterate Pakistan like rest of the world will observe International Literacy Day on Sunday (tomorrow). The theme for the year 2013 is “Literacies for 21st Century”. A number of non-profit organisations as well as Literacy and Non-Formal Basic Education Punjab have planned events to mark the day. Most of these events will be held on Monday instead of Sunday when the world will observe this day. Pakistan is among those few countries which spend the least on the education sector while access and quality of education is far behind the satisfactory level. It is generally believed that lack of political will is the biggest hurdle in achieving maximum literacy while social and economic factors also contribute largely in this regard. The news.
