Technical Education can Eradicate Poverty
Lahore :August 27: TECHNICAL Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) Chairperson Irfan Ali has said the importance of technical education and vocational training cannot be denied for sustained economic development and industrial growth of a country.
He said the promotion of technical education was the only way to eradicate poverty and bring about prosperity in the country. “We can achieve these goals with transparency and efficiency in our dealings focused at service delivery as required,” he said while addressing a meeting of senior management of Tevta, according to a press release on Monday.
Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmad Qureshi, general managers and other senior officers of Tevta attended the meeting.The Tevta chairperson said that the basic aim of Tevta was to impart employable skills to the youth, not only for their personal growth but also for the development of industry in Pakistan. He said Tevta was a vibrant organisation for producing skilled workforce in the country. He said skilled manpower could also add foreign exchange to the national exchequer.

 

He said the aim to organise this meeting was to bring senior management belonging to different districts of Tevta under one roof and share their experiences to identify weaknesses in the service delivery and find out effective means to rectify these flaws.

 

He said that, undoubtedly, the Tevta had been doing a lot for the promotion and standardisation of its training activities and producing skilled manpower for industry, agriculture, commerce and trade sectors.
HE said, “The outcome of this meeting will be beneficial to deploy our limited resources for the maximum gain and produce trained manpower according to requirements of the industry.”
Event: Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) is organising a two-day skill festival to promote technical education and vocational training and create awareness about the training opportunities available for young boys and girls in the provincial capital.

 

The two-day skill festival, Hunar Mela, will be held on August 29-30 at Children Library Complex in collaboration with TVET Reform Support Programme, which is co-funded by the European Union, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Federal Republic of Germany and implemented by the GIZ in Pakistan.
