Schools to have All Missing facilities this year: CM
Lahore:13 July: Punjab government is taking revolutionary measures for promotion of education and all missing facilities would be made available in schools of the region during the current year, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

He said all challenges facing Pakistan will be countered with courage and determination.

He said Pakistan will live forever as a prosperous and developed country.

He was addressing as a chief guest at certificates distribution ceremony among students who attended ideological summer camp arranged by Nazaria Pakistan Trust at Aiwan-e-Karkunan-e-Tehrik-e-Pakistan, on Friday. He said people had given a historic mandate to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the general elections and it was the responsibility of the government to resolve problems of the country. The chief minister said that though these problems were complex but would be resolved through collective efforts. He said that government was making strenuous efforts for coping with the energy crisis and the time would soon come when load-shedding would completely be eliminated.

Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman Nazaria Pakistan Trust Dr Majid Nizami, Chairman Tehreek-e-Pakistan Workers Trust Col (retd) Jamshed Tareen, Vice Chairman Nazaria Pakistan Trust Dr Rafique Ahmad, Justice (retd) Munir Ahmad Mughal, columnist Dr Ajmal Niazi, Secretary Education (Schools) and others were present. Addressing the ceremony, Sharif said Punjab government was taking revolutionary measures for promotion of education and a huge sum of Rs.8 billion had been allocated in the new budget for provision of missing facilities in schools of the province. He said this process was being started from South Punjab and all missing facilities would be made available in schools of this region during the current year. The CM said national economy would be revived and energy projects initiated so that Pakistan could make progress. Sharif lamented that former rulers created disastrous problems for the country. He said Chairman Dong Feng Company during a meeting informed that upon the delay in the implementation of Nandipur power project, he held a meeting with the President of Pakistan in July 2011 and requested him for early clearance of the machinery of the project lying at Karachi port but despite lapse of two years, no action was taken.

He said Pakistan’s interest was compromised for a sum of only Rs 200 million. The CM said had this 425-megawatt project completed the problem of shortage of energy could have been resolved to some extent. He said the cost of the project which was Rs 22 billion earlier had now increased to Rs 57 billion. He said had this additional sum of Rs 35 billion saved a new power project could have been launched or metro bus project could have been completed in Rawalpindi. The CM awarded certificates to students and teachers at conclusion of the function.

Compensation for rape victim: Meanwhile, the chief minister also met a family of gang rape victim in Model Town and announced financial assistance of Rs 0.3 million for each of the affected girls.

He said oppression and cruelty would not be tolerated in the society and police should spare no effort in helping the aggrieved persons.

Inspector general police and home secretary were also present on the occasion

He said police should take immediate action in case of any heinous crime and strictly deal with criminals under the law.

The chief minister said only those societies survive and make progress which provide immediate justice to the oppressed. Talking to the affected family, the CM said societies could not survive where justice was not available to the poor and the oppressed. He directed police to ensure prompt justice to the poor and common man and no laxity should be shown in this regard.

He said the criminals involved in heinous crimes should not be spared and dealt with an iron hand. The CM expressed his grief over molestation of a poor family by some influential landlords of Shujabad and said this tragic incident was a test case for police. He said elements involved in this incident would not go scot-free and indiscriminate action would be taken against them. He said justice would be provided to the aggrieved family. The chief minister directed police to submit challan of the case in the court to ensure punishment to criminals and providing justice to the aggrieved. pr۔
