Liaquat University students Clash 4 injured

Hyderabad: In a clash between two groups of students at the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LMUHS) campus Jamshoro on Tuesday, four students received injuries while eight were taken into custody by police.

According to reports, the clash took place between the Pakhtoon students and nationalist groups in which sticks were freely used. Two students belonging to JSSF, Ahmed Mujtaba and Uzair Khwaja were injured.

Later, one group resorted to aerial firing which created harassment at the campus. The injured students were admitted to university hospital Jamshoro branch. Jamshoro police rushed to the spot, raided Al-Beruni hostel and arrested eight students.

Reports further said that after the arrest of Pakhtoon students, SPSF activists in their support blocked the Indus Highway and Jamshoro railway crossing. Students belonging to JSSF and JSMM staged protest demonstrations outside the university hospital and Jamshoro press club.

They told reporters that a day earlier, hot words were exchanged at sports ground between the Pakhtoon students and the students belonging to nationalist parties. They said that Pakhtoon students called outside help today and resorted to violence.

Jamshoro police has registered an FIR on the complaint of Azheer Khwaja, in which he has nominated Faisal Pathan, Mohammad Pathan, Majid Pathan and others. Reports said that after the incident, the university authorities have expelled eight students.

Meanwhile, JSMM leader, Syed Asghar Shah has claimed that state agencies were responsible for the disturbances as they wanted to sabotage the strike call given by his party for May 20.
