Rawalpindi :September 10: Mohammad Younis Roomi, an old student of Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC), now teaches fine arts at the same institution transferring his skills and knowledge to the students who want to become artists and explore this field as a professional artist.
Belonging to a humble family of Shikarpur, Sindh, Younis, developed interest in art as he grew up. After doing graduation, he pursued his passion and took painting as a profession. Younis’s work included calligraphy, landscape, abstract, Sufism, figurative, antique, cubism, and expressionism that was displayed here on Monday at the RAC. While talking to this scribe he said that he is the only one who has taken up fine arts as a profession. One has to have a lot of temperament to complete what he has started,” he said. He has experimented with different mediums like sand and glue, acrylic and screen and sketching and 3D effect.
Member National Assembly Raja Javed Ikhlas accompanied by Naheed Manzoor and RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition. Muhammad Younis Roomi conducted his first solo exhibition while he has been associated with this field for more than 10 years. In calligraphy, he used free style without following traditional styles while in landscape, he is eager to do live painting. Roomi also introduced a new technique of antique style showing message of peace through teachings of Sufism. More than 46 art pieces have been put on display for general public till 14th September.
Younis Roomi painted calligraphy, landscape, abstract, expressionism and antique by using acrylic colours on canvas and paper which attracted the attention of large number of artists and art lovers.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Member National Assembly Raja Javed Ikhlas said that he is very impressed by the work of Younis Roomi for his unique style. Naheed Manzoor said that RAC produced artists of great calibre and Younis Roomi is one of them. RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed thanked all the distinguished guests and said that new talent is always encouraged and provided platform without any distinction.
