Dow University of Health Sciences  Karachi held Workshop on Advanced Orthopaedic Techniques

Karachi:A one-day seminar cum workshop on Advanced Orthopaedic Techniques was recently held under the aegis of the Orthopaedic Surgery Department of Dow University of Health Sciences at Professional Development Centre, Dow Medical College Campus. The objective of the programme was to train the doctors about modern techniques to manage fractured bones.

Eminent professors and orthopaedic surgeons presented their papers on treatment of fractured bones and trained the participants on artificial models.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Dow University of Health Sciences, professor Masood Hameed Khan said that fast pattern of routine life resulted in increasing number of trauma emergencies. Majority of injured persons reported to hospitals had fractured bones.

Professor Masood Hameed Khan said that more than 850 patients with fractured bones visit Karachi hospitals on a daily basis. More than seventy per cent of these patients are discharged after their injured limbs have been cast in plaster, while 30 per cent are treated as indoor patients. About 50 patients become disabled totally or partially due to improper management.
