PMDC to Ensure High Education Standard’
Karachi:August 08: The newly elected President of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Prof Dr Masood Hameed Khan, said on Wednesday that the media has to boost the efforts of PMDC to make it one of the world’s best medical regulatory authority since there exists a big room for improvement in the council and it would be his foremost priority to equip the PMDC with state-of-the-art technology.
Addressing a press conference, he said that he was in contact with all the stakeholders, including the federal government, to ensure high standards in medical education in the country, adding that all the rules and regulations would be enforced in true letter and spirit to bring about a more positive image of the council.
Earlier, Prof Dr Masood Hameed Khan was elected as the President PMDC at its 134th meeting amid warm welcome by medical fraternity. Prof Dr Muhammad Awais of King Edward University was elected as Vice President.
The council members also elected Executive Committee of PMDC, which comprises Prof Dr Azam H. Yousifiani, VC Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences, Nawabshah; Prof Dr M. Hafiz Ullah, VC Khyber Medical College Peshawar; Prof Dr Sadat Khan, HoD of Urology Department, Bolan Medical College, Quetta; Prof. Abdul Salam from KPK and Prof Dr Khursheed from GDP Islamabad.
Talking about the future plans of PMDC, Prof Dr Masood Hameed Khan said that they would establish new PMDC cells in Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Nawabshah, Hyderbad, Abbottabad and Muzaffarabad to cater to the needs and problem of the doctors working in the remote areas of the country.
Moreover, he said that the facilitation of the doctors and all stakeholder would be his top priority and the process of registration of doctors and faculty registration would be streamlined on urgent basis, adding that a new system of software connected to a mobile sim (0304-8734851) would be launched to auto-direct emails of the complaints or suggestions to the concerned authorities, including president, vice president and the executive members.
Besides, all the sections would be fully equipped with IT and all efforts would be made to make PMDC one of the most developed medical regulatory authorities.The news.
