Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad set to fill 919 vacancies
ISLAMABAD: As many as 919 persons will be inducted in various departments and faculties of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) with an aim to expand its distance learning education system.
In the first phase, 417 posts would be filled purely on merit to strengthen existing departments and open new disciplines, said sources in the varsity here Monday.
They said AIOU Chancellor Asif Ali Zardari had already given approval for recruiting new staff.
“The recruitments would be made on merit to ensure provision of quality education,” they said
They said AIOU was all set to expand its distance education network to provide access to maximum number of students, particularly those living in far-flung areas.
AIOU is the largest varsity, having 1.9 million students enrolled in various disciplines.
Currently, there are 36 departments and four faculties in the varsity that has so far awarded about 1.2 million degrees and diplomas. app
