Punjab University is organizing a seminar on "Raising Awareness Regarding Human Rights

LAHORE: Punjab Government's Human Right & Minorities Affairs Department has acknowledged the efforts of Punjab University administration, particularly Principal Law College for organizing a seminar on "Raising Awareness Regarding Human Rights and Minorities Rights in Pakistan". In a letter to Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran, HR&MA Department Secretary Arshad Bin Ahmad on behalf of the minister has commended the PU administration, PU Law College Principal Ms Shazia Noureen Qureshi, faculty members and students for holding the successful seminar. The minister has also hoped that the second phase of the awareness raising campaign would be launched soon through field survey/field visits by the students and faculty members. The letter reads: "This seminar will prove to be a milestone in initiating the process of raising awareness on such a vital issue at such a critical juncture of our national history". The HR&MA Department has also sought suggestions from the varsity to further enhance the programme and make it effective. The letter states: "The department would not only like to continue this programme, it would also like to further enlarge its scope for which funds would be made available. In this regard you suggestions as to how your university plans to further enhance this programme and make it effective, would be most welcome. Your valuable suggestions together with action plan and budget implications for the activities during the current financial year may kindly be forwarded at the earliest so as to enable us to earmark funds for your university". The Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran has congratulated the Law College Incharge Principal Shazia Nourneen Qureshi, faculty members and students for this acknowledgement by the Human Right & Minorities Affairs Department of the Punjab government.
