75,000 teachers are engaged in primary sector throughout province In NWFP
Teachers and skill development in teaching methodologies of teachers, especially at the primary level; there is dire need that the respective training institutes must work to the optimum level. In this connection, the meeting was also informed that 75,000 teachers are engaged in the primary sector throughout the province and the regional institutes are meant not only to impart pre-service training of 18 months to the new comers but also provide in-service training facilities to the existing lot on regular basis. In all 22 regional institutes for teachers education, 50% are meant for female teachers throughout the province, it was added. On a point, the meeting was also informed that one such institute, each at Swabi, Charsadda and Dir are under utilization while the rests are working quite satisfactorily. Briefly speaking on the occasion, both the Governor and the Chief Minister were of the view that there is need to have a forward looking approach and make concerted efforts not only to make best use of the available resources but also manage required resources to meet the long term requirements of the people.
