Edu Exhibit to Highlight UK Varsities
Karachi : 30 September : The United Kingdom educational fair for highlighting opportunities for pursuing higher studies in the UK will be held in Karachi from 11am to 7pm on Monday (today) at the Sheraton hotel.
In this regard, the UK Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi hosted a reception on Sunday evening for the members of the UK universities’ delegation in town, under the umbrella of the Global Education Fairs and Conferences, to meet the media and those connected with the pursuit of education.
Deputy High Commissioner John Tucknott welcomed the delegation and talked about the prospects of pursuing higher studies in the UK and the hiccups sometimes encountered, in particular procurement of the visa. He said the British government also was not pleased with such unpleasant incidents but there were laws which have to be abided by. Often, he said, the candidates failed to notify the required information. Sometimes, results were not declared promptly, he added. However, the UK government will make maximum endeavour to mitigate the problem, he assured the gathering.

Dr Keith Brown from the Centre for International Development at UK’s Teesside University said their university had a large number of students from Pakistan. He said they were a highly brilliant and diligent lot and his university looked forward to having more of them.

Simon Stanley from Regent’s University London lauded the response and enthusiasm among Pakistani youngsters for pursuing higher studies in the UK. He said his university would do its maximum to help them in this endeavour. Among the universities participating in the exhibition are the universities of Bristol, Durham, Nottingham, Warwick and Portsmouth.
