Teachers’ Training Workshop at UET
Lahore : 30 September : Three-day special training workshop for the University’s newly-appointed teachers was organized by QEC in University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore to edify their skills in modern teaching methodologies, professionalism, marking and grading in higher education, time management, communication skills, stress management, lesson planning, micro-teaching, education psychology, assessment and personality development.
According to a press release issued here on Sunday, UET Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen (retd) Muhammad Akram Khan was the chief guest of opening ceremony.
The VCs of the Government College University (GCU) and the University of Education also participated in different sessions of the workshop.
Addressing the training session, the VC said that they were determined to enhancing the quality of higher education and the capabilities of newly inducted faculty members by equipping them all necessary professional trainings. He said that the prime function of the universities was to create knowledge and this value addition could only be done through innovation, skills and commitment. He also emphasized on conducting research as the key role of the university teachers.
GCU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rehman said that genuine learning was not possible without interaction and inspiration, and depth of teacher’s character was very crucial in this equation. He said it was not only knowledge which made a person good teacher, rather it was his character and ability to impart knowledge which played a more crucial role.
