NATIONAL MANAGEMENT COLLEGE LAHORE DELEGATION VISITS GCU

A 11-member delegation of the National Management College Lahore visited the GC University Lahore and called on the Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Aftab in the committee room.
 
The Vice Chancellor welcomed the guests and apprised them about the academic and historic perspective of the University. Prof. Khalid Aftab said that GC University Lahore is a modern, demand driven, futuristic, quality conscious and affordable institution with focus on quality education and research work besides co-curricular, debating, dramatics and sports activities.
 
Talking about the foreign faculty working at GCU, Prof. Khalid Aftab said that we have got 56 foreign faculty members through courtesy Higher Education Commission, Pakistan working at GCU and we have taken certain steps in the realm of Plasma Physics, Institute of Industrial Bio-Technology, Sustainable Development Study Center, Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences, National Center for Mathematics, Industrial Chemistry, Computer Science, MBA,  ESME and Telecommunications to produce skilled manpower. He further said that there are 48 faculty members of GCU working under Tenure Track System which is the highest number in any Public Sector University of Pakistan.
 
While appraising the delegation about the GCU faculty and the students, he said that when the Government College was setup in 1864, it had 9 students and 3 teachers whereas at present, the GCU has got more than 6400 students and 437 faculty members and out of them, 148 hold Ph.D degrees, he added.
 
The Vice Chancellor also appraised the delegation about the academic agreements which GCU has singed with the national and international institutions. “We want effective and productive academic interaction with the institutions and we are endeavoring to achieve sustainable and remarkable academic achievement, Dr. Khalid said and hoped that in the year 2015, GCU Lahore should be placed among the  institutions of South Asia”. The VC-GCU Prof. Khalid Aftab also informed the delegation about the recently acquired 365 acre of land for the GCU new campus.
 
Shahid Majeed, Faculty In-charge of the National School of Public Policy, National Management College thanked the Vice Chancellor  GCU Prof. Khalid Aftab for giving his delegation the warm reception. The members of the delegation including Dr. Imtiaz Kazi, Mrs. Anjum Assad, M. Ali Baloch and Ali Raza Bhutta asked the Vice Chancellor GCU about the varsity faculty and administration related questions.
 
The Deans, Registrar and Director Academic Planning and External Links assisted the Vice Chancellor. The delegation also visited the postgraduate library and CASP.
