MEDICAL SOCIAL SERVICES PROJECT THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL & THE INSTITUTE OF CHILD HEALTH

The medical Social Services Project the Children’s Hospital & Institute of Child Health, Lahore is providing services to facilitate the poor & needy patients.

The funds for this purpose are available form three sources:

   1.Health Welfare Committee
   2.Patient’s Welfare Society
   3.Bait-ul-Mall

  1.Health Welfare Committee

The Health Welfare Committee consists of MS/ Convener, Medical Social Officer/Secretary, District Zakat Officer and a Senior Doctor.

The Children Hospital receives an amount of Rs. 15 lacs annually from the only non-affording Muslim patients.

  2.Patient’s Welfare Society

The Patient’s Welfare Society is formed by the Medical Social Officer. It consists of 50 members Medical Superintendent is the President of Patient’s Welfare Society. The funds for Patient’s Welfare Society are arranged by the members of the society through donations. These funds are utilized in the:

    * Provision of free medicines and operation items.
    *Free Blood screening, MRI and CT Scan tests.
    *Providing Hearing Aid, Wheel Chairs, Artificial limbs, etc.
    *Providing free Ambulance service.
    *Disposal of dead bodies.
    *Recreational programs for children.
    *Celebration of Religions and National days.

Pakistan Bait ul Maal.

The funds which are available from Pakistan Bait ul Maal are utilized in the treatment of chronic diseases such as:

    *Cancer,
    *Cardiac Surgery
    *And the provision of free hearing Aids to the deserving Muslim and non Muslim patients

The non-affording patient is referred by the doctor to the Medical Social officer. A detailed case history of the patient is prepared by the MSO and then his/ her application is recommended for assistance from Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal. A cheque of estimated amount is issued form Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal in the name of the patient, which is to spend on that patient only.
Note: the services of Patient’s Welfare Society & Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal are for non affording patients without Religious distinctions.
