Governor Punjab Visit Islamia University of Bahawalpur

24-04-2010-Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer has said that although, unfortunately, the culture of agitation and protest has been growing extensively in the country, but still the political involvement among the educational institutions would not be tolerated at any cost. In order to keep the educational institutions safe from extremism and politics, the Punjab Government was unanimous with the measures adopted by the Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. In this regard he would also direct the district administration with special instructions to help the IUB management to overcome such elements who promote political activities in the campus.

He further elaborated that the appeal of the expelled students of Engineering College would be later into some consideration before taking any final decision.
Governor Punjab informed the Vice Chancellor, IUB that he would also apprise president Asif Ali Zardari for the provision of special funds of 1245 Million Rupees for establishing Saraiki Study Center for the promotion of history, Language Culture and research of Saraiki Language a Women Development Center for the rural area women of the Southern Punjab and University College of Home Economics and 100 foreign PhD scholarships.

In the meeting of the Governor Punjab at his residence in the University VVIP Guest House, with included Prof. Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, Prof. Dr. Najeeb Jamal, Prof. Dr. Shahid Naweed, Dr. Nasrullah Khan Nasir and Registrar Muhammad Ishtiaq.

The Governor Punjab admired the excellent arrangements in the University Guest House to make his stay in Bahawalpur comfortable and expressed his special gratitude to Vice Chancellor, IUB and his staff.
