International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Faculty Member Expires

Professor Muhammad Arshad Mirza, who was serving in the International Institute of Islamic Economics, International Islamic University, Islamabad for last 19 years was expired here at the age of 47. He was buried in his native village in Sargodha district. A large number of IIU Faculty Members, Staff Members, and Students attended the funeral. Three professional associations of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) namely academic association, officers association and staff welfare association were represented by their office bearers. They paid rich tributes to late professor Mirza for his services to staff members and humanity at large.

Dr. Manzoor Ahmad, Rector International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and Dr. Anwar Hussain Saddiqui, President IIU also expressed their deep condolences over sad demise of Professor Mirza. They prayed Allah almighty to place his soul in eternal peace.

IIU Iftar Party Cancelled
The Iftar Party being organized by Dr. Anwar Hussain Siddiqui, President International Islamic University, Islamabad on September 28, 2008 at the Faisal Mosque Campus has been cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances. It was announced by Syed Muzammil Hussain. Deputy Director, Public Relations of the University. He has regretted to all invitees.

Kazekh envoy visits International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI)

Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Islamabad visited the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI). Dr. Anwar Hussain Siddiqui President of the University briefed the visiting ambassador about the functioning of the University and its achievements over last 28 years of its existence. Dr. Siddiqui told the ambassador that the university has now branched out to modern fields of knowledge after obtaining excellence in traditional fields. He added that the university is planning to soon open its own medical college with 500 bed hospital

Jack Straw Speaks on "Pakistan and the United Kingdom: A Living Bridge" at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Islam is second largest religion in Britannia, Pakistan played an important role against terrorism: Jack Straw IIUI Rector Dr. Manzoor, President Dr. Siddiqui and IRD'S Director Dr. Mumtaz also spoke.

British Secretary of Justice Mr. Jack Straw has urged USA to respect Pakistan's sovereignty as Pakistan played an important role against terrorism. He was delivering a lecturer at the International Islamic University, Islamabad which was arranged by its offshoot Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue (IRD). University's Rector Dr. Manzoor Ahmad, its President Dr. Anwar Hussain Siddiqui and IRD'S Executive Director Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad also spoke on the occasion. Speaking on "Pakistan and the United Kingdom: A Living Bridge" ,Mr. Jack Straw added that Pakistan and the United Kingdom enjoy deep rooted relations. About Great Britain, he said that his country respects Islam and Muslims a lot. For example Islam is second largest religion in his country and it is also fast growing religion in whole Europe. He added that in his own constituency 60 thousand Pakistanis are residing.

Mr. Jack Straw also paid rich tributes to Mohtrma Benazir Bhutto (Late) for her struggle for democracy. He also expressed his satisfaction over restoration of democracy after 18th February-2008 Elections in Pakistan and hoped that the democratic process would be strengthened in future as well. He advocated that democracy is best form of the Government as it guarantees well being of the People. Mr. Jack Straw stressed upon United States of America not to violate Pakistan's territorial boarders because of its counter productivity. About British forces operating in Afghanistan, Mr. Straw said that those forces are part of NATO forces which has no mandate to enter Pakistani territories. He also clarified that present war in tribal areas is not against tribal people but it is against Al-Qaida. In reply to a question about non-admission of Turkey into the European Union despite its secular system of Government, Mr. Straw said that U.K has very clear stand on this issue because his country wants Turkey into the fold of E.U. Dr. Manzoor Ahamd, Rector of the International Islamic University, Islamabad said that main purpose of this University is to open dialogue channels among followers of different religions and political ideologies. Dr. Anwar Hussain Saddiqui and Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad thanked Mr. Jack Straw for visiting the International Islamic University, Islamabad. The lecture was largely attended by Faculty, Executive Officers, Students and Staff members of the university. Students of various Universities in the Federal Capital also attended the seminar.

International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) clarifies on hostel unrest

The Administration of the International Islamic University, Islamabad has issued following press release to clarify about female students protests at the new campus.


News items about some of the female students holding protests demonstrations at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) have been published in newspapers and were broadcast by some TV channels.

The university has clarified that only about 150 to 200 students of about 1800 girls residing in the hostels out of the total 6000 students have taken part in these demonstrations and their main demand is that no more admissions may be made in the hostels. The university added that since a large number of girls of various remote areas of the country are admitted and some of them cannot afford to live in private hostels which are very expensive. The university is trying to accommodate some of them in the hostels, whereas some of the old students are protesting to accommodate new comers. The university has provided up to date facilities at its hostels which are one of the best in Pakistan. The hostel buildings are new and well designed including spacious rooms, facilities for dinning, extra curricular activities etc. Food is being provided to the hostel residents at nominal price and is managed by the hostel residents themselves.

Dr. Anwar Siddiqui Appreciates International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Election Committee

Dr. Anwar Hussain Siddiqui, President International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has appreciated the election committee which conducted first ever elections of the University Staff Welfare Association (USWA) recently. In a letter of appreciation Dr. Siddiqui has commended the role of committee members namely Muhammad Jamil (Action Chairman), Syed Muzammil Hussain and Nuzhat Zareen.

Dr. Siddiqui appreciated the efforts put-in by the election committee in conducting successful and transparent elections of the University Staff Welfare Association (USWA) on 26.08.2008. The election committee worked very hard in preparation of lists, issuing instructions and coordination with the contesting groups to facilitate the things and to keep the atmosphere peaceful.

Dr. Siddiqui hoped that the committee members will continue to work with the same zeal, spirit and sense of devotion towards duties and responsibilities which needless to say, play an important role in uplifting of an esteemed Institution like International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). ..............

Oath taking ceremony of USWA, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Monday

The Oath taking ceremony of the newly elected working body of University Staff Welfare Association (USWA) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) will be held on 1st September, 2008 at 12:30 PM, at the Auditorium Complex of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) at Faisal Mosque.

The Federal Minister for Information Technology, Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas, Qamar Zaman Kaira will preside over the function while Advisor to the prime Minister on Religion Affairs Maulana Hamid Saeed Kazmi will be the chief guest on the occasion. The Federal Minister for Defence, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar is also expected to attend the ceremony.

The names of the elected candidates are Ch.
