Gomal University employees threaten to stage protest
DERA ISMAIL KHAN:28 august: The employees of the Gomal University have warned they would launch a protest campaign against the vice- chancellor’s decision to abolish their allowances.

The employees held a meeting here on Sunday to devise their future line of action against the administration’s decision to abolish the hard area and medical allowances and house rent.

The meeting was attended by faculty members and class-IV and class-III employees of the university.

The participants of the meeting said that Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Sarwar had called the university syndicate meeting in Peshawar on August 29 for making the decision to abolish the alliwances.

They claimed that all other public sector universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and rest of the country were providing these allowances, but Gomal University’s administration wanted to deprive its employees of the benefit.

The meeting noted that the syndicate meeting was being held at a time when no faculty member could participate in it as its tenure had expired.

The employees questioned the timing of the meeting. “The meeting’s timing and location suggest that the administration wanted to impose dictatorial decisions on the employees,” maintained one of the participants.

The employees asked the administration not to hold any meeting till the faculty had proper representation in the syndicate. They threatened to suspend teaching activities at the university and launch a protest campaign if any decision was taken against the interest of employees. The news.
