Government  College University organised a lecture on Advocacy Event on HIV/Aids

LAHORE :THE Department of Academic Planning and External Links of the Government  College University (GCU) organised a lecture on Advocacy Event on HIV/Aids on Monday.

According to a press release, Punjab Aids Control Programme Project Director Dr Ali Razaque gave a lecture on HIV/Aids and while explaining different causes of HIV/Aids he said the major causes of the disease was homosexuality, infected needles and infected blood. The rate of injecting drug users is higher in Pakistan than any other country in South Asia, he said, adding that so for 5,000 cases of HIV/Aids were reported all over the country and among them 1,300 were reported in Punjab out of which 449 patients were under treatment.

Dr Ali said that Aids patients should not be stigmatised, adding that was a preventable disease and one should be very careful while taking blood and using needles. GCU officials, faculty members and a large number of students attended the lecture.
