Abdul Wali Khan University of Peshawar inaugurated Govt committed to bring normalcy 

PESHAWAR: NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti has said the Prime Minister has assured him that NWFP will remain exempted from the recent Rs.250 billion reduction in Federal Development Programme and that the funds will continually be provided for all the ongoing projects and assured that all projects for the progress and prosperity of the province will continue. This he stated while inaugurating Abdul Wali Khan University at Mardan on Wednesday. The ceremony was also addressed by Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Ihsan Ali, Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Minister for Higher Education Qazi Muhammad Asad, Minister for Schools and literacy, Sardar Hussain Babak, District Nazim, Himayatullah Mayar, Khanzada Khan (MNA) and Syed Fayaz Ali Shah (ACO). Amir Haider Hoti said that the setting up of this university is a gift to the people of this province to mark the completion of one year in office of the present government. He said the government is fully committed to establish peace and normalcy in the province and no one will be allowed to disrupt the peace process initiated by the government. He made it clear that being a Muslim no one can oppose the imposition of Sharia and that is why the present government accepted the out standing demand of the people of Swat and Malakand and imposed Nizam-e-Adl. He appreciated the unflinching support extended to his government by all the political forces of the province for the revival of peace in militancy-hit Swat and the adjoining areas. The Chief Minister assured full support to all the public sector universities of the province and admitted that no nation can even think of progress and development without education. He lauded the efforts made by District Nazim, Himyatullah Mayar, VC Dr. Ihsan Ali and Sahibzada Shakeb in connection with the establishment of this new university. Earlier, Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr. Ihsan Ali said Mardan was an important centre of Gandhara Civilization in the ancient times and that's why many universities were established here in that era. He appreciated the priority being given to the Higher Education by the provincial government and said that in a span of only one year, the Islamia College University and the Abdul Wali Khan University have been established while a new university in Swat is close around the corner. He said that regular classes in 11 departments in the newly established university would commence from May 04 this year. Dr. Ihsan Ali also offered shields to Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti and District Nazim, Himayat Mayar, on this occasion.
