NUST honours its award winning Team
Islamabad:April 22:The National University of Sciences and Technology gave a very warm welcome to its winning team at the recently concluded Stanford Centre on Longevity Design Challenge 2017 in California, USA.
The team’s project TAME, Tremor Acquisition and Minimisation, was declared first in the challenge as it defeated teams from Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Cornell, Virginia Tech, University of Waterloo, to name a few. The team comprised students from School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS), including engineers Awais Shafique, Hooria Anam and Arsalan Javed and Sheraz Kamran.

A large number of university students and faculty were present at the occasion.

Praising the team for its meritorious achievement, Lt Gen (retired) Naweed Zaman, Rector NUST, said that this achievement veritably summarizes the mission of NUST.

"This is what we are all about – training bright and talented young people to expand and lead from the frontiers of science and technology for comprehensive national development.”

He said there is great scope for innovation in Pakistan and that the world is truly the oyster for the country’s innovative minds.

On the occasion, the Rector also awarded gold medals and certificates to the winners and the supervisor, respectively.

The Stanford Centre on Longevity Design Challenge is a worldwide competition that offers cash prizes and free entrepreneurial-related guidance to the winners.

This year, the competition was focused on such design projects and products which are modelled to optimise human life.The news.
