EXAMINATION POLICY University of Science and Technology Bannu (BUST)

MODE OF EXAMINATION

    * There shall be terminal Examination system. Exam shall be taken at the end of each term.
    * For M. Phil students the system of examination shall be “semester” system.
    * However, Exam for D. Pharmacy shall be on yearly basis.
    * Evaluation will be made on the basis of internal and external assessment at the ratio of 20:80 for Bachelor classes and 40:60 for Master classes.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

    * No candidate is eligible to appear in the final exam unless he/she:
    * Is registered with the University for his/her Respective Course of study.
    * Has paid all the fees/dues
    * Has maintained at least 75% attendance both in theory and practical classes.

QUALIFYING AND PROMOTION CRITERIA

    * For passing each terminal Exam a candidate must obtain 45% in each theory paper and practical and 50% in aggregate.
    * For promotion to next term, a candidate shall pass at least 50% subjects/papers.
    * A candidate who fails in more than 50% subjects/papers shall be declared failed.
    * A candidate who fails in more than 50% subjects/papers in the terminal exam shall be given three consecutive chances for passing it; otherwise he/she shall repeat the same term as a fresh student.
    * A candidate who fails in more than 50% subjects/papers in the final term exam shall repeat the same term but as an old University student, on payment of all fees/dues.
    * A candidate, who fails in aggregate in the terminal exam, shall be given two consecutive chances to reappear in one or more papers of his choice for passing in aggregate and if fails he/she shall have to reappear in the exam as a whole.

AWARD OF DEGREE

A candidate shall not be awarded a degree unless:

    * He has passed all the prescribed exams with required percentage and fulfills all other requirements
    * He has successfully completed his internships with requisite standards.

GOLD MEDAL AND MERIT CERTIFICATE

The candidate, who passes all the prescribed Examinations in first attempt within the stipulated period of time of his/her joining the classes, shall be awarded a Gold Medal, provided that he/she has the highest marks and not less than 60%  of the aggregate marks.

Merit Certificates shall be awarded to the candidates who secure 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in their respective disciplines on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in all the prescribed examinations provided that they have passed in their first attempt with at least 50% marks.
