79.43% candidates successful Girls outdo boys in Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education

ISLAMABAD: Girls clinched all top positions of the Science, Humanities, General Science and Commerce Groups in the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC), Part-II, examination whose results were announced by Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), Islamabad, on Thursday.

Of the 36,105 candidates, who registered themselves with the FBISE for the examination, 35,584 sat the exam and 28,265 of them (79.43 percent) remained successful.

In the Pre-Engineering Group, Iqra Ejaz, of ACME College of Excellence, Faisalabad Road, Sargodha, stood first by securing 1,030 marks, while Ali Hasnain, Fauji Foundation College for Boys, New Lalazar, Rawalpindi, secured second position by obtaining 999 marks and Zeeshan Mahmood, of Fazaia Intermediate College, Lahore, third one with 992 marks.

In the Pre-Medical Group, all three top positions were grabbed by the students of Army Public School and College for Girls, Hamayun Road, Rawalpindi.

Fatima Ayaz bagged first position by obtaining 1,017 marks, while Aima Tariq stood second with 1,013 marks. Zahabia Khalid and Amna Amer shared third position by obtaining 1,005 marks.

In the General Science Group, Ayesha Afzal, of FG College for Women, Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi, was the topper with 997 marks followed by Mohsin Mustafa, of FG Sir Syed College, the Mall, Rawalpindi, with 974 marks and Wardah Naseer, of FG College for Women, Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi with 971 marks.

In the Commerce Group, Hamida Shams, of Islamabad Commerce College for Women, F-10/3, got first position by obtaining 920 marks. Uzma Raj, of Punjab College of Information Technology, G-6/1, Islamabad, stood second with 911 marks and Shazdah Gul, of Punjab College of Commerce, Peshawar Road, Rawalpindi, third with 904 marks.

Zahida Noreen, of Pakistan Education Centre, Doha, Qatar, topped in the Humanities Group, by obtaining 892 marks. Almas Javed, of FG College for Women, Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi, and Rabia, of Askari College, Girls Campus, Sarwar Road, Rawalpindi, shared second positions with 880 marks followed by Samreena Khan, of PAEC Model College for Girls, Chashma, Mianwali, with 876 marks.

The HSSC supplementary examinations, 2009 shall commence from October 3.
