Twenty seventh International Children’s Film Festival
Lahore : 05 October :A group of two children from Pakistan is all set to participate as members of the International Children’s Jury in the 27th International Children’s Film Festival, Isfahan.
The festival is taking place from October 7 to 13 in Isfahan, Iran. The Little Art’s Lahore International Children’s Film Festival has collaborated with Isfahan Festival for the initiative.
The two children are Warda Waqar, an 8th grade student from The Punjab School, Lahore, and Omar Nazir, an 8th grade student from Lahore American School.
The children were selected through an open call to schools on the given criteria of children’s interest in filmmaking and ability to analyse films for their peer groups. Omar Nazir also has made a short film which was premiered in this year’s Lahore International Children’s Film Festival.
As the members of the International Children’s Jury, both the children from Pakistan will join an international group of 20 children coming from various countries.
Their responsibility as jury members will be to see the films in the festival’s competition categories and judge the films for various aspects.
The votes by this selected group of children will decide winners in the festival.
The 27th International Children’s Film Festival, Isfahan, is programmed to screen 75 films from 40 countries in two main sections – the international cinema and the international animation. Founded in 1985, the festival brings together nearly 700 Iranian and foreign directors, actors and film distributors for the event.
The Little Art, a non-profit organisation, which has been running the Lahore International Children’s Film Festival in Pakistan since 2007, has now started to take initiatives that promote children and young people as filmmakers and avid film viewers through international exposure.
The Little Art Director Shoaib Iqbal said, “We are witnessing that through technology and the media, the exposure of our children and young people is expanding at a great speed. We as artists and educationists need to work with our children and youth to use all the available resources in creative and educational ways. It is very much needed if we want to see our children grow as creative individuals, rather than ordinary consumers of tools, media and information.”

The 5th edition of the Lahore International Children’s Film Festival was organised from September 16-21 in Alhamra, The Mall, and the festival went massively popular.

Nearly 15,000 children, youth, families, teachers and film enthusiasts attended the six-day event. The festival aims at promoting arts education and media literacy among children and youngsters. pr
