RIS Students Take Part in Road Safety Walk
Islamabad :September 14: Students of Roots International Schools (RIS) participated in a Road Safety Walk organised by the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) in collaboration with other associates to improve road safety in the federal capital.
Members of ITP very cordially attended the students. They demonstrated the students how the speed of the vehicles is measured. Few of the students stood on Islamabad Toll Plaza, they tried their best to give safety guidelines to every other car stopped by, and provided them with flyers having road safety measures. Among other partakers, students from Roots International Schools walked around two kilometres from the China Chowk on Jinnah Avenue to Expressway Chowk. The participants were holding placards with stimulating watchwords for general people informing them not to use cell phones while driving and to follow the traffic rules. They were also taught how to walk safely on the road.
The students were highly motivated to play their part in such moral cause. According to a survey more than 270,000 pedestrians lose their lives on the world’s roads each year accounting for 22% of the total 1.24 million road traffic deaths. Therefore this is the need of the hour to create awareness among people at general and students in specific, regarding the decisiveness of road safety. The students of RIS who were the participants of the walk pledged their support for making the roads safer in the capital. Roots International Schools CEO Walid Mushtaq, considers it to be the motto of RIS to develop the students in a way that they become socially and morally responsible and play their constructive role in years to come. The news.
