Teachers, students protest against Quaid’s residency attack
LAHORE:28 June: The teachers and students of the Institute of Communication Studies (ICS), University of Punjab, on Thursday took out a protest rally to condemn attack on Quaid’s Ziarat residency. The students were carrying placards and banners inscribed with various slogans with a few of them read; ‘join hands against terrorism’, ‘Quaid lives in our hearts’. ICS In-charge Director Dr Noshina Saleem led the rally while faculty members Dr Afira Hamid, Maliha Hassan Laghari, Sana Naveed Khan, Shafia Bhatti, Uzma Asghar, administrative staff and a large number of students participated in the demonstration. The students and teachers were chanting slogans and marched from ICS to Institute Of Business and Information Technology. The faculty members reiterated the PU Academic Staff Association demand of constructing replica of Quaid’s residency in all five provinces of the country as well as in the new PU campus, which is already named as Quaid-i-Azam campus. The emotionally charged teachers and students expressed their patriotism, and solidarity giving a strong message to internal miscreants and foreign hands that all Pakistanis stand united and wouldn’t allow any conspiracy against unity of the country. Addressing the protesters, Dr Noshina Saleem said the attack on Quaid’s residency was a matter of utter embarrassment for the entire nation. “The building was the historical legacy of our great hero, but it doesn’t stand destroyed in real sense, she added.
