Madrassa affiliation with AIOU

Islamabad: The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) have been offering the affiliation of Dars-e-Nizami Courses offered at religious seminaries since 2000 but due to lack of coordination within the system the ratio of beneficiaries have been very low.

The course of Shahada-Al-Almia being offered at madrasas is equivalent to MA and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has also recognised this degree but other courses including Sanvia Aama, Sanvia Khasa and Shahadat-ul-Al-Almia equalivent to Matric, FA and BA respectively are not recognised degrees.

The madrasa students are asked to give Matric, Intermediate and BA examination afresh to get recognised degrees from boards to get jobs.

"But if the students of religious seminaries would give just the papers of English, Urdu and Pakistan Studies through the university they don't need to give the examination of all the subjects and they would get degrees equivalent to Matric, FA and BA" informed the Dean Faculty of Arabic and Islamiat at AIOU, Muhammad Baqir Khan.

Mufti Gulzar Ahmad Naeemi of Jamia Naeemia G-9/3 said "our students from this year have given their examination as private candidates through Federal Board so that they could get recognized degrees despite that they have been also studying Dars-e- Nizami courses at madrasas".

He said the students spend their precious time energies in completing theses courses but due to non-affiliation of theses degrees with the Examination Boards their degrees are not acknowledged. And the students cannot apply for the government as well as private jobs.
