Geopolitik Pakistan inaugurated
Lahore :06 July: The book Geopolitik Pakistan written by Brig (r) Nadir Mir was inaugurated at the Punjab University New Campus on Friday.
Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Former defence secretary Shamshad Ahmed Khan, renowned analyst Syed Mowahid Hussain Shah, Brig (r) Farooq Hameed and people from various walks of life were present on the occasion. Brig (r) Nadir Mir said that his book was written very differently and said the subject of geopolitics must be taught in the institutions of higher learning. Speaking on the occasion, Syed Mowahid Hussain Shah said that democracy in our country was a fraud.
He said that Indonesia, being the largest Muslim country, must be give veto power in the United Nations as a representative of the Muslim world. He said that a campaign must be launched to activate OIC and called for the establishment of an Islamic fund. Shah said that Pakistan’s representation and presentation at the international level was very poor. He said that the creation of new provinces was not in the interest of the country, rather it was equal to Balkanisation of Pakistan.
Dr Kamran said that Pakistan could progress if we take advantage of its geographical position, which is a gift by the nature. He said that the country had great reservoirs of natural resources, including gold, coal, gas, etc, but unfortunately, they are not being exploited for national development. The PU VC said that the international powers started wars between Arabs and Turks for Israel, which was the bone of contention in the world.
Shamshad Ahmed Khan, while noting that the army was doing its job, said the rulers should also do theirs because the country could not progress unless governance is improved. He said that Pakistan’s internal challenges were more serious than the external ones and the country’s institutions have collapsed. He said we should not blame the US and India for it. Shamshad Ahmed Khan said that we were not measuring up to the expectations of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal, and unfortunately our rulers prefer personal interests to national interests. He said that no country was so important in terms of its geographical position like Pakistan, but we have made our asset a liability.Daily Times.
