Flag-Hoisting Ceremonies at FJW University
Rawalpindi : 15 August : As per tradition, Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm with flag-hoisting ceremonies.
At the Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Samina Amin Qadir hoisted the national flag on Wednesday morning. The national anthem was also played on the occasion. A large number of faculty members and students were present in the ceremony.
Addressing the audience, Professor Dr. Samina Amin Qadir said: “We are the citizens of Pakistan and we take its ownership. We emphasise on ‘Tajdeed-e-Ehad’ every time but forget that there is a step after that too which is called ‘Ifa-e-Ehad’ (fulfilling promises). Our country was founded on the basis of Islam which gave the message of peace, humanity, tolerance and education. Education can be the most effective tool in changing the current situation of our country,” he said.
Ms. Shazia Hashmat, assistant professor at the Department of Communication and Media Studies, and student Ms. Asia Altaf shared the importance of education in today’s world.
Students paid tribute with their melodious voices to this land in the form of national songs.
A flag-hoisting ceremony was also held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) on Wednesday. PMAS-AAUR Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, Registrar Shahid Ali Khan, the controller of examinations, deans of all faculties, administrative officers, employees and a large number of students attended the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering after the hoisting of the national flag, the vice-chancellor stated that freedom is a great blessing. “The value of independence could be gauged from the miserable plight of Muslims living in India, Kashmir and Palestine. He further said that Quaid-i-Azam diverted the powers of Muslim nation towards the way of freedom, but after the independence this spirit declined, resulting in individual development instead of the nation’s upbringing,” he said. The news.
