M.Ed. Secondary Teacher Education
Introduction:
   
The Department of Teacher Education was established in 1985 which was bifurcated into Secondary Teacher Education and Elementary Teacher Education in 2003. The schemes of study of M.Ed program aims at preparing highly skilled professionals in the field of Teacher Education to provide trained manpower for the improvement of educational thrust of the country.
Admission Requirement:
   
i) Applicants should have passed:
• B.A/B.Sc. with English at least with 2nd division
• B.Ed (General) 2nd division
• BS.Ed. with 2nd division
ii) An eligible candidate is required to attach photocopies of his/her certificated/degrees and marks sheets with the admission forms along with the required fee and submit it as per prescribed procedure laid down in the prospectus.

Three Semesters
Medium of Instruction:
   The university will provide study material (study guides, allied materials, textbook) and media support (if any) to the enrolled students. The medium of instruction is in English. Assignments are compulsory component. Student has to attempt two assignments for half credit course and four assignments for full credit course. Passing marks in assignments are 40 %. Tutorial will provide useful guidance in the form of lectures, discussion, question-answer sessions and general clarification of any course related issues if required. At the end of each semester there will be a two-three-days workshop for each half credit course and six days workshop for full credit course. These may be organized at the main campus or wherever the university deems feasible. The workshops are compulsory component of each course. Attendance in the workshop is compulsory.

Offering of alternative courses depend upon the availability of departmental or Faculty courses.

Workshop:
   1. Two days for each half credit course at the end of each semester.
2. Five sessions per day.
3. Duration of one session is one hour.
Eight days workshop for four courses at the end of semester.
Full time presence and an active participation of the students is compulsory in the workshop.
Attendance on prescribed performance in each session of the day is mandatory, failing which the student will be considered as disqualified in this workshop component.
