Green school clubs idea receives good response

Islamabad: The Ministry of Environment's idea of introducing 'Green School Clubs' in Islamabad to engage students as awareness partners against environmental pollution was received enthusiastically.

In the first round, 20 schools received green school participation shields and in the final round the best three environmental-friendly schools were chosen by a panel of professional judges for first, second and third prizes. The Federal Government Model School got first prize of Rs100,000. The Roots School System, High School Branch, F-8/4, won second position with a cash prize of Rs50,000 and a computer. The Beaconhouse School System, Margalla Campus, won third prize of Rs30,000.

In the tableau competition, three best tableaus were selected. The Roots School System won second & third prizes. In the final competition on the stage of World Environment Day, the Roots School System won second position and cash award of Rs30,000.

The tableaus were beautifully choreographed and visuals were so beautifully crafted that it took the viewer into the beautiful natural environment and children gave very strong messages to the pollutants to protect the earth for their future.

Federal Minister for Environment Hameed Ullah Jan was the chief guest on the occasion. He remained seated for four hours in the auditorium and appreciated teachers and students of all participating schools for their efforts. He appreciated the media and stakeholders in environmental tasks. The news
