LAHORE (PPI): Provincial Benevolent Fund Board has stopped some 6000 educational scholarships of government servants after raising minor objections on their applications. Benevolent Fund officials warned that if applicants did not complete the documents required by the board such applications would be rejected. According to details the Provincial Benevolent Fund Board had invited applications for education scholarships from government servants working in grade 17 and above in March 2009. After scrutinizing the applications Benevolent Fund Board raised objections over 6000 applications that concerned persons had not completed required documents with their applications. Benevolent Fund officials dispatched the letters to applicants for submitting the required documents, in respond to Benevolent Fund letters some applicants completed all requirements but thousands of government servants did not fulfil the requirements for educational scholarships till the date. Most of applicants did not submit their pay slips, educational certificates, copies of departmental cards so the process to issue the scholarships amount was stopped, sources said. The Benevolent Fund Board has fixed November 30-2009 last date for submitting the missing documents and if applications not provided the required information their applications would be rejected, sources added. When this correspondent contacted Provincial Benevolent Fund Board, Waseem Ahmed Saif, administrator of the board he said some 14000 educational scholarships have been dispatched to government servants and board officials have issued the scholarships amount on daily basis. He said they were also ready to pay the scholarships against pending applications but applications should fulfill the conditions for this purpose.
