PESHAWAR: Renowned educationist, legendry Pashto poet, scholar and former Chairman of Academy of Letters Prof. Parashan Khattak, has been laid to rest here on Friday. Ghamey Jahan alias Parashan Khattak breathed his last here on Thursday at the age of 78. Prof. Parashan Khattak has served as Vice- Chancellor Gomal University D. I. Khan, Chairman University Grants Committee, Rector Alkhair University, VC Azad Kashmir University, Chairman Academy of Letters and National Linguistic Authority besides serving as Director Pashto Academy and advisor to Prime Minister Azad Kashmir. He was father of major (retd) Koshhal Khattak, former Secretary General Peshawar High Court Bar Association, Bahlol Khattak, Prof. Shah Baz Khattak and Dr. Javed Khattak. Apart from four sons Parashan Khattak had two daughters. His Urdu book “Pashtoon Kon” earned country wide repute. The funeral of Parashan Khattak was held at Hayatabad township of Peshawar. Government officers, prominent personalities from the education sector, political leaders and people from various walks of life attended his last rituals.F.P. Report
