Teachers Day celebrated at SEF
KArachi : 06 october :There is no stronger foundation for long-lasting peace and sustainable development than quality education provided by well-trained and motivated teachers.
In appreciation of those who give so much in educating and guiding the students, an event was organised to mark the World Teachers Day by the Sindh Education Foundation on Saturday.

It was arranged to appreciate and encourage the hard work and commitment teachers put in on a daily basis to bring the light of education to the students.

Along with Minister for Education Nisar Khuhro, the seminar hosted a panel of experts including Saba Mehmood, Dr Kaiser Bengali, Wajih Akhter, and Dr Bernadette Dean among others.

Teaching is a highly respected profession, and teachers often have more responsibility for development of teacher than parents, said Khuhro.

Wajih Akhtar said infrastructure changes need to be undertaken, and teachers need to be given incentives to perform better. “They also need to be given exposure of the world outside Pakistan to enhance their learning,” he added.

While Professor Anita Ghulam Ali urged teachers to cultivate children’s creativity and thought processes, Saba Mehmood said called for making a commitment for children’s educational development. “Teachers’ commitment needs to be enhanced, along with eliminating absenteeism.

The event served to provide a platform to hold constructive debate amongst stakeholders and experts to solve the issues pertaining to teachers, and consequently, improve the state of the educational sector in Pakistan.Daily Times.
