Rallies Express Solidarity with Christians Continued
Lahore : September 24: Christian employees of the university. PU Christian employees will stage a protest demonstration on Tuesday (today) at 12pm outside the university’s Institute of Education and Research (IER).
Meanwhile, VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran announced help, including medicines, worth Rs500,000 for treatment of injured in Peshawar blasts from the university’s Disaster Relief Fund.
According to a press release, Kamran strongly condemned the suicide attacks and said that the cowardly act was a conspiracy to defame Islam and Pakistan. He said that the elements involved in the attack were anti-Islam and anti-Pakistan whatever the sect or group they belonged to because our religion and Constitution provided protection to the minorities.
Lawyers: Lawyers of the Lahore Bar Association on Monday observed a strike to condemn the Peshawar carnage that took lives of 81 people and left 147 injured.
The strike was called by Pakistan Bar Council to express solidarity with the Christian community and was completely endorsed by the LBA Lawyers. The lawyers while talking to the media said that state has completely failed to curb the prevailing terrorism.
The lawyers said the government should deal with terrorism on priority basis and for this purpose government should frame a comprehensive policy. They said the whole legal community was with the Christian community; it was not attack on a church rather attack on Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Punjab Bar Council announced observing strike today (Tuesday) to condemn attacks on church in Peshawar. Punjab Bar Council, in a press release, said all law enforcing agencies had failed to deliver their duties.
PTI: In view of tragedy of Peshawar, PTI Punjab leadership has decided to express solidarity with the victims of the Peshawar tragedy and it would stage a unity and solidarity rally on Tuesday (today) at Liberty Roundabout. According to a press release issued here, the PTI leadership would light candles for the bereaved families. President Punjab Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry over the tragedy said that volunteers from all over Pakistan had gone to Peshawar to offer their services to these families and offered their volunteer services, including about 400 bottles of blood and constant support in providing food, etc, to the family members.The news.
