Symposium on glycoproteins at University of the Punjab from 27th to 29th

Lahore: University of the Punjab (PU) School of Biological Sciences is organising an international symposium on 'Glycoproteins in Health and Diseases' to be held from May 27 to May 29.

Scientists from the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Iran and Pakistan will read about 35 research papers. The theme of the symposium is that glycoproteins and glycoconjugates are ubiquitously distributed in nature and are implicated in important biological functions including immunology, energy resource, protection, lubrications, structural support, cell adhesion, molecular and cellular recognition, receptors for hormones and viruses, transcription factors, gene activation, cancer, immunological disorders etc.

The organising committee consists of Prof AR Shakoori, Prof Nasiruddin, Prof M Akhtar, Prof Javed Iqbal and Prof Iftikhar A Malik.

PU is organising this symposium in collaboration with Pakistan Academy of Sciences and Institute of Molecular Sciences and Bioinformatics.

Quran Khawni for Dr Mansoori's brother: Quran khawani for the late Muhammad Ali Mansoori, brother of Dr Mujahid Ali Mansoori, PU spokesman and student adviser, will be held today (Saturday) after Asar prayers at the residence of Dr Mujahid in Hostel No 9, New Campus. Ali Mansoori died in Copenhagen, Denmark and was buried there.
