Karachi : September 29: In the wake of media reports about scare and concern among the people about the growing incidents of kidnapping of public and private school children, Inspector General of Police (Sindh) Shahid Nadeem Baloch on Saturday directed the Additional IG Police Karachi to tighten security measures around all schools in consultation with their respective administrations.
According to a press release issued here, the IGP directed the police to keep strict vigil around the educational institutions at the opening and closing hours, and asked the schools’ administrations to issue identity cards to their staff and students and do not allow any unauthorised person to enter their institutions.
Besides, they should also issue special identity cards to parents or domestic servants or drivers detailed to pick and drop the students. Not only this, they also obtain written undertakings from the parents and guardians showing their trust on whom they had deputed to carry their children to and from the school.
The IGP further instructed to keep the schools’ proximity clear of unauthorised persons. All vehicles that carry the children should be issued stickers by the respective school administrations while their parking should not be allowed in school premises, he directed. The news.
