Sarhad University Tenth Convocation
Peshawar : 19 September : Khyber Pakhtun-khwa Governor Shaukatullah on Wednesday stressed the need for promoting primary education and asked the educated persons to spare time and resources to decorate children with the ornament of education.
Addressing as chief guest at the 10th Convocation of the Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology, he said it was the only way to make them good citizens. Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, special assistant to chief minister, was also present on the occasion. Vice-Chancellor of the university Dr Saleemur Rehman presented the annual report and highlighted the achievements and performance of the varsity.
The governor gave away degrees and medals to graduates. Khalid Ahmad, Syed Muhib Ali Shah, Yasir Mahmood, Babar Shahzad, Rabia, Wajeeha Tahir, Anam Faheem, Kinza Hameed, Muqarrab Baseer, Hasnat Ahmad, Aisha Ayub and Mohammad Daud bagged gold medals for achieving distinctive positions in their respective disciplines.
Congratulating the students, the governor said they had indeed made a big achievement in quest for acquiring higher education and they made efforts by investing time, resources and energies to achieve this goal. “Some of you will be lucky to reap the fruits of your efforts in a short span of time and others may get their returns after a while. Education is the best investment in one’s life,” he remarked.
Shaukatullah said that the new institutions were being established in private and public sectors to give education opportunities to the youth. Every year, he added, thousands of youngsters graduated from the educational institutions with the spirit to work for the development of the country.
Dr Saleemur Rehman said the university was in the process of introducing unified communication and digital teaching system. He said half of the faculty members of the university were PhD scholars, adding they would launch educational programmes in Fata.The news.
