PESHAWAR:20 august: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department has completed final analysis of the results of the 5th grade assessment which was conducted in March this year.

According to a press release, the purpose was improvement in teaching and learning practices. The current system mostly tests rote memory and the teachers also focus on rote memorization. This assessment tested conceptual understanding, analytical thinking and application skills, needed to succeed in knowledge-based society, it added.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar was assigned the central role in development of assessment papers and analysis of results.

For the first time in KP, all eight boards used Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) which is machine-based paper checking system to eliminate human error.

All the boards were tasked to provide subject wise results to both private and government schools.

Boards will start dissemination of results from the next week. These results will help schools in understanding the weak areas where more focus is needed in teaching and learning process, concluded the press release.The news.
