LAHORE 3-day Japanese calendars exhibition opens at Al-Hamra Hall Art Gallery

LAHORE (APP): The Japan Embassy in cooperation with Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association, Lahore Arts Council and MEXT Alumni Association of Pakistan, organized a three-day annual Japanese Calendars Exhibition 2009 at Al-Hamra Hall Art Gallery here Tuesday. At the opening ceremony of the expo, Mr. Mizusawa, Third Secretary of Press Information & culture Department, represented Japan Embassy. The exhibition is an annual event becoming quite popular among the citizens of Lahore and this year, around 100 calendars are being put on display in the exhibition with themes- contemporary & traditional art, gardens, scenery, costumes, people, art, photography, pottery, automobiles, wildlife, communication, and historical places, all of which are related to Japan. Each calendar is a piece of art, for which the producing companies have tried their best to attract viewers through different subjects and mediums.

The exhibition not only gives a picture of the socio-cultural development of Japan spread over centuries, but also exhibits the aesthetic features of Japanese artists. A remarkable aspect of the exhibition is that most of the calendars are produced through an eco-friendly process and they are printed on the paper manufactured from trees of managed forests or non-tree sources like sugar-cane, or recycled paper. The visitors can witness the brand-new printing technology crystallized in the Japanese calendars, and enjoy the diversity of Japan through the calendars exhibition. After this exhibition, all the calendars will be distributed to the visitors, through a lottery and the winners will be informed by post, and they can pick up their prizes from the office of Honourary Consul-General of Japan at Lahore.
